Accountant - month-end close (Toledo, OH)

Summit Vale Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for meter reading, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with meter reading. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
