Accountant - month-end close (Tampa, FL)

We are growing our team at Stonegate Summit Community Partners and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 970 people based in Tampa. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around volunteer shifts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food distribution, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with food distribution. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Tampa. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
