Accountant - month-end close (Tampa, FL)

We are growing our team at Silverline Beacon Insurance and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Tampa. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
