Accountant - month-end close (Tampa, FL)

Cedar Orchard Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Tampa. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with loads and lanes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Tampa, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
