Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Harborlight Sable Markets operates grocery and general-merchandise stores around Spokane, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to promotions, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with promotions. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Spokane. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
