Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Westbrook Early Learning Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for family communication, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around licensing records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Spokane. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
