Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Rivermark Kestrel Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Spokane area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with billing accounts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Spokane. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
