Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Northwind Mill Transit Planning Group helps transport agencies around Spokane design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Spokane. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
