Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Westbrook Mill Environmental Services Group serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Spokane. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 23 people based in Spokane. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to recycling loads, and clear open items. • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with recycling loads. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Spokane. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
