Accountant - month-end close (Spokane, WA)

Rivermark Pine Insurance is an insurance company in Spokane with claims and service teams. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 950 people based in Spokane. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Spokane. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
