Accountant - month-end close (Seattle, WA)

Northwind Cobalt Construction is a Seattle contractor with project managers, trades and support staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 138 people based in Seattle. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to subcontractor invoices, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around change orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with subcontractor invoices. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Seattle. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
