Accountant - month-end close (Seattle, WA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Thistle Water Authority and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Seattle. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
