Accountant - month-end close (Savannah, GA)

Stonegate Union Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Savannah. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Track costs around collection routes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with service complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Savannah. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
