Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

We are growing our team at Rivermark Oak Civic Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 144 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to budget submissions, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around permits against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with budget submissions. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
