Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

Bluepeak Ember Community Partners is a nonprofit in San Jose supporting families with food, housing and job help. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food distribution, and clear open items. • Track costs around benefits enrolment against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with food distribution. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
