Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

Summit Meadow Press is a printer and publisher in San Jose serving local and national clients. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 70 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Track costs around customer orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to print quotes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
