Accountant - month-end close (San Jose, CA)

Highbridge Harbor Environmental Services Group collects and processes waste and recycling around San Jose. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Early starts and steady work; we look after our drivers. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
