Accountant - month-end close (San Diego, CA)

Harborlight Works is an energy provider in San Diego focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing disputes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with billing disputes. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in San Diego, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
