Accountant - month-end close (San Antonio, TX)

Northwind Summit Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for capital projects, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 15 people based in San Antonio. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with capital projects. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in San Antonio. • We reply to every applicant.
