Accountant - month-end close (Salt Lake City, UT)

We are growing our team at Westbrook Thistle Insurance Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Salt Lake City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
