Accountant - month-end close (Sacramento, CA)

Northwind Forge Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Sacramento. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to collection routes, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around weigh tickets against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Sacramento. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
