Accountant - month-end close (Sacramento, CA)

We are growing our team at Cedar Amber Insurance and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with catastrophe response. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Sacramento, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
