Accountant - month-end close (Sacramento, CA)

Redstone Ember Learning Group runs classrooms and tutoring across the Sacramento area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Families are partners. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around school calendars against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to learning materials, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with learning materials. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Sacramento, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
