Accountant - month-end close (Rochester, NY)

Summit Union Banking Services Group is a community-focused bank in Rochester serving households and small businesses. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Most people here started in a branch and stayed. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around deposit accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with account openings. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Rochester. • We reply to every applicant.
