Accountant - month-end close (Richmond, VA)

Rivermark Union Legal Group provides legal services in Richmond across employment, housing and small-business law. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We are a close group and share the work. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around intake forms against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
