Accountant - month-end close (Richmond, VA)

Nova Lakeside Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Richmond. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Weather sets the schedule, and we plan around it. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around packing house output against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with cold storage. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Richmond, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
