Accountant - month-end close (Richmond, VA)

Nova Orchard Farms is an agricultural business based around Richmond. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We are a family-run business at heart. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to harvest schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around grower contracts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with harvest schedules. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Richmond, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
