Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Redstone Sparrow Energy Group is an energy provider in Memphis focused on reliable service and fair billing, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around outage response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with service connections. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Memphis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
