Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Maple Learning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 77 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with student accounts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
