Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Nova Ember Markets Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with store inventory. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Charleston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
