Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Fernwood Wilder Medical builds devices used by hospitals and clinics, with its team based in Atlanta. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Patient safety shapes every decision. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around complaint handling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to clinical evaluations, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with clinical evaluations. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Atlanta. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
