Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Highbridge Oak Inspection Services Group is an inspection company in Des Moines with field technicians and lab staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 147 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field inspections, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around test reports against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
