Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Vista Housing Group manages affordable housing communities across Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Housing is our mission and residents are our neighbours. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to lease compliance, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around repair requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
