Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Harborlight Hollow Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Memphis working with agencies and riders, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 496 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with accessibility audits. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Memphis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
