Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Amberfield Quarry Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Colorado Springs. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with accessibility audits. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Colorado Springs. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
