Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Cedar Drift Inspection Services is an inspection company in Omaha with field technicians and lab staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 24 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to equipment calibration, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around client sites against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with equipment calibration. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Omaha. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
