Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Fernwood Amber Construction builds commercial and industrial projects around Tucson. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with change orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Tucson. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
