Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Fernwood Quarry Telecom is a telecommunications provider in Buffalo focused on reliable home and business connections. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We invest in training. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to network equipment, and clear open items. • Track costs around service installations against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Buffalo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
