Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Ridge Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around Milwaukee. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a large organisation of about 885 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around tuition and subsidies against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with family communication. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Milwaukee. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
