Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Harborlight Lakeside Care Services supports families and individuals in Madison with personal care and coordination. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. You would join a small organisation of about 43 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to care plans, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around visit scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with care plans. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Madison. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
