Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Northwind Oak Foods Group is a Reno food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. Food safety is non-negotiable and we train for it. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Reno. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
