Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Lumen Summit Learning Group Partners runs classrooms and tutoring across the Chicago area, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We follow the school calendar and we like people who like learning. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around learning materials against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to family communication, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
