Accountant - month-end close (remote)

We are growing our team at Northwind Bridge Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be month-end close. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Atlanta. • We reply to every applicant.
