Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Summit Glen Hospitality is a hospitality company in Detroit with restaurants, rooms and catering. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We work weekends and holidays and we make it fun. What you will do • Track costs around guest bookings against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to housekeeping schedules, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with housekeeping schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
