Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Bluepeak Kestrel Community Partners is a Buffalo charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Buffalo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
