Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Nova Amber Construction is a Providence contractor with project managers, trades and support staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. Site safety is non-negotiable. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to materials orders, and clear open items. • Track costs around safety records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with materials orders. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Providence. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
