Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Summit Lakeside Banking Services is a regional lender in Providence with branches and a growing mobile service. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fraud alerts, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around card disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
