Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Summit Lakeside Banking Services is a regional lender in Providence with branches and a growing mobile service, and we need an Accountant to lead our month-end close. We keep decisions close to customers and expect people to explain things plainly. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fraud alerts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with fraud alerts. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Providence. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
