Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Clearpath Ivory Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Columbus. We are hiring an Accountant to take on month-end close. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
