Accountant - month-end close (remote)

Foxglove Maple Housing is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on month-end close for rent assistance, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We value patience and follow-through. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around repair requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent assistance, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with rent assistance. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Detroit. • We reply to every applicant.
